The Unique New York City Elopement of Kaz & Vanessa | LGBTQ Wedding in NYC

This is the unique New York City elopement of Kaz & Vanessa and definitely one you want to see. This wedding was in the making for quite some time but the pandemic kept pushing it back. But when the day finally arrived it was glorious. Jackie and I met Kaz and Vanessa at “Jane’s Carousel” in Dumbo. Jackie performed a fun and unique ceremony and then we were off to take wedding photos around New York City. We started at Brooklyn Bridge Park, stopped at a fire station called the “Rat House” in Crown Heights (Kaz is a firefighter back in England), walked through Greenwich Village and then ended up at one of my favorite places I have ever photographed…at the “Museum of Ice Cream“. I am so glad these two took me there because we had a ball. Ice cream samples in every room and fun photo opportunities for days! This was definitely one of the most unique New York City elopements I have photographed and I am so grateful that Kaz & Vanessa trusted me with their wedding photos that day.

..im “Museum of Ice Cream“. Ich bin so froh, dass die Zwei mich dorthin mitgenommen haben. Wir hatten so viel Spass! Eis und lustige Fotomotive gab es in jedem Zimmer! Dies war definitiv eines der einzigartigsten New York City Hochzeiten, die ich fotografiert habe und ich bin so dankbar, dass Kaz & Vanessa mir an diesem Tag ihre Hochzeitsfotos anvertraut haben.

Working on something new for our couples. And this one took a while to get right…
20 years!!
7,305 days.
175,320 hours.
10,519,200 minutes.
And around 631 million seconds of putting up with each other.

Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.

I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.

When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.

We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.

And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)

Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.

Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️

If you made it to the end of this post, tell us how we know and met you. Because guess what…you are part of our story too. And we want to hear about it. Thank you for being an integral part of Team Reinking.

Couples always ask me what happens if it rains on their wedding day. And my answer always is: “Then we will have fun in the rain!!”. 🥰

We got paired with these two at our 6:54 AM tee time this morning @gallopinghillgolfcourse and right before we teed off, they mentioned they might stop to snap a quick photo for their pregnancy announcement.

Well, what are the odds they got paired with a photographer? So in between bogeys and lost balls, we knocked out an impromptu mini photo shoot. First time for everything, and golf magic at its finest.

Easily the best scorecard moment of the day. 😂
