The Dumbo Wedding of Jacky & Carsten | A Brooklyn Bridge Park Elopement

This is the Dumbo Wedding of Jacky & Carsten. Flying in from Germany we met Jackie and Carsten in Dumbo. Here, in front of the New York skyline, they had planned to exchange their vows. As you can see from the photos, it was a picture perfect fall day for a wedding in New York City. Blue skies and warm temperatures. After those two tied the knot we walked a bit around Brooklyn. We stopped at the cobble stone streets in Brooklyn Bridge Park for some photos before we jumped on the subway to go into Manhattan. We ended our day together at in front of the Public Library.

Dies ist die Dumbo Hochzeit von Jacky & Carsten. Die Zwei kamen aus Deutschland um sich in Dumbo – vor der beeindruckenden New Yorker Skyline – das Ja-Wort zu geben. Es war ein fantastischer Herbsttag in Brooklyn. Keine Wolke am Himmel und warm. So ganz wie man sich eine Hochzeit in New York wünscht. Nachdem Jackie die Zwei getraut hatte liefen wir etwas durch Brooklyn und über die Kopfsteinpflaster vom Brooklyn Bridge Park. Wir endeten den Tag vor der New Yorker Bücherei.

175,320 hours.
10,519,200 minutes.
And around 631 million seconds of putting up with each other.

Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.

I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.

When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.

We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.

And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)

Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.

Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️
