The Il Buco Elopement of Sandy & Charlie | Beekman Hotel Wedding in NYC

This is the Il Buco elopement of Sandy & Charlie. And of course…the “other” Charlie. Charlie the dog. This little family tied the knot during a wonderful winter wedding in New York City. I met Sandy, Charlie and Charlie the dog at one of the most amazing hotels in New York City, the Beekman Hotel. Here they had their ‘first look’ before we walked the streets of the Big Apple towards the Brooklyn Bridge. The ceremony was held in the old wine cellar of Il Buco Restaurant. Make sure to stop by the restaurant the next time you visit. The food is out of this world!

Dies ist die Il Buco Hochzeit von Sandy & Charlie. Und natürlich…der andere Charlie. Charlie der Hund. I traf die Drei in einem der schönsten Hotels in New York, dem Beekman Hotel. Hier sahen sich Sandy und Charlie zum ersten mal in ihren Hochzeitsoutfits. Und von hier ging es dann kreuz und quer durch die Strassen von New York Richtung Brooklyn Bridge. Die Zeremonie fand im Anschluss im Weinkeller vom Il Buco Restaurant statt. Das Restaurant solltet ihr bei eurem nächsten Besuch auf dem Plan haben. Das Essen dort ist einfach fantastisch!

And around 631 million seconds of putting up with each other.

Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.

I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.

When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.

We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.

And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)

Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.

Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️

We got paired with these two at our 6:54 AM tee time this morning @gallopinghillgolfcourse and right before we teed off, they mentioned they might stop to snap a quick photo for their pregnancy announcement.

Well, what are the odds they got paired with a photographer? So in between bogeys and lost balls, we knocked out an impromptu mini photo shoot. First time for everything, and golf magic at its finest.

Easily the best scorecard moment of the day. 😂

We got paired with these two at our 6:54 AM tee time this morning @gallopinghillgolfcourse and right before we teed off, they mentioned they might stop to snap a quick photo for their pregnancy announcement. Well, what are the odds they got paired with a photographer? So in between bogeys and lost balls, we knocked out an impromptu mini photo shoot. First time for everything, and golf magic at its finest. Easily the best scorecard moment of the day. 😂
